Simpson-Goldman Murders: Case Closed?

Posted: Updated:
Two decades have gone by and technically the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman remain unsolved because no one has ever been convicted in a court of law for the crime. But in the court of public opinion, the case has long been closed.

It’s no secret that most people, if asked, think OJ Simpson did it.

In fairness, OJ has always denied having anything to do with the murder of his ex-wife and mother of two of his children, along with her friend Ron.

And in 1995, a jury of his peers seemingly agreed when they returned a “not guilty” verdict.

But in the eyes of the LAPD, that verdict changed nothing and the Simpson-Goldman murder investigation was closed with OJ’s arrest.

"We are quite confident we know who committed the murders”, LAPD Commander Andy Smith told me today. “We are not out looking for some mystery killer."

OJ had promised to look for that “mystery killer” but outside a video proclaiming his innocence, we never heard much more about his “search” for the truth.

And if there was one, it most likely ended when he got himself re-arrested in Las Vegas and this time was found guilty of a totally unrelated crime.

Life is funny that way…or maybe, it’s karma. Call it what you want, OJ did end up behind bars.

And while most of the social commentary on this sad anniversary will surround the rise and fall of the football player, it is

Nicole and Ron who should be remembered today. Along with all the other victims of that fateful June 12th on Bundy Drive: the Goldman’s, the Brown’s and the Simpson children.

Twenty years have gone by and the truth is still locked up somewhere in the mind of a killer and who knows, maybe with an accomplice and/or confidante or two.

Hopefully, another decade won’t go by until we learn the truth, until they learn the truth for then and only then, the case can be truly closed.
