Chainsaw Wielding Landscaper In Jail After Fight With Co-Worker
LAKEVILLE, MN- A Minnesota man is facing some serious charges, after a dispute on the job turned into a chainsaw-wielding confrontation.
When you're a tree trimmer and your co-worker is getting on your nerves, put the chain saw down, walk away and count to 10.
"And he's holding the shovel like a baseball bat. And all you hear is the chain saw going "ping" off the shovel the whole time. And I'm just standing there like "wow, this is not really happening right now," described neighbor and witness Cara Lee.
Had Jason Schultz been able to do that, he would not be in the Dakota County Jail charged with assaulting his co-worker with a chainsaw.
"Then he kept saying 'I'm going to cut you. I'm going to hurt you. I'm going to kill you.' You know, back and forth," said Lee.
Lee was working on her deck while her next door neighbor was having a dead tree removed. She said, the entire time she could hear the two men bickering.
"He didn't feel safe in the tree. I think all the emotions and I don't know how the day started with those two. I mean if you're up in a dead tree you expect someone to be paying attention and helping you," Lee explained.
According the criminal charges, the man on the ground told Schultz who was up in the tree, to stop dropping branches near him. That's when the 34-year-old unleashed a litany of racial slurs.
Later on the words turned physical.
"And then I just saw him look like he got pushed coming down the hill with the chain saw and goes 'I'm going to get you," explained Lee.
The two co-workers eventually took the fight to the front yard, as several nervous neighbors called 911 before eventually calming the two men down before anyone got seriously hurt.
