Good Samaritan Rescues Baby From Ga. Highway

Posted: Updated:
Carlton, Ga.-A 1-year-old Georgia girl is safe after a Good Samaritan stopped to save her.

Bryant Collins was driving along Highway 72 in Carlton, Georgia, when he looked over and saw the baby crawling out of a ditch.

Collins says he was so shocked that he stopped his truck in the middle of the road.

According to Collins, the little girl was crying and crawling towards traffic. Collins and other drivers called 9-1-1.

Deputies say the 15-month-old was a quarter of a mile away from home.

They believe she crawled through the woods and fell down a 10 ft. embankment near the highway.

The little girl's father showed up and told deputies he'd been looking for her, along with other family members.

Deputies arrested Timothy Pickens,37, for child cruelty and reckless conduct.

Investigators say Pickens and his wife told deputies the girl's older siblings were supposed to be watching her while they did yard work.
