Two Men Sought by Police For Expo Park Rose Garden Assaults

Los Angeles, CA -

(FOX 11 / CNS) Two suspects remained at large today after they pistol-whipped a park officer who interrupted them as they were assaulting a woman in Exposition Park, police said.

The officer, a member of the state's Department of Public Safety based at Exposition Park, was hospitalized in unknown condition, Los Angeles police Sgt. Carlton Brown said.

Brown said investigators were waiting to view what they believed was footage of the assault, recorded by the park officer's vehicle dashboard camera. The assault occurred around 10 p.m. Wednesday, near the park's Rose Garden, LAPD Officer Nuria Vinegas said.

A perimeter, including the adjacent southern section of the USC campus, was established, but the suspects evaded capture, and the search ended around 1:30 a.m. today, authorities said.

Brown said police believe the suspects used their own weapon for the assault on the officer, who was investigating an altercation between two men and a woman when he was attacked.
