Let it Rip: The immigration emergency at the US-Mexico border

Posted: Updated:
President Barack Obama is facing mounting calls from Republicans to take a firsthand look at the immigration emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border, putting him on the spot concerning what he has called the "humanitarian crisis" of tens of thousands of unaccompanied children flooding in from Central America.

More than 52,000 unaccompanied children have been apprehended since October. Three-fourths of them are from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, and say they are fleeing pervasive gang violence and crushing poverty.

Texas Governor Rick Perry says Perry says anything but deporting the children quickly will only encourage more to undertake the dangerous journey. He also said the National Guard should be brought to the border to secure it.
Democratic Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee of Houston said at the hearing that quick deportations of the children back to their home countries would be "inhumane."

What do you think?  Add your answer to the poll in this story.  Should the children who crossed the border be sent back to the countries they came from or should we find a way to keep them here and integrate them into our society?

The debate about how to handle this crisis makes it's way into Studio A and Fox 2's Let it Rip.
