It's like no other 1957 GMC truck you will ever see. Restored beyond new, and restored with all the Granite Mountain Hot Shot's in mind, including it's former owner Jesse Steed.

Just one year after the Yarnell Hill Fire Jesse Steed's 1957 pickup truck is going home.

Jesse was one of 19 hot shot firefighters killed in the Yarnell Hill Fire that started on June 28th last year.

"Dan is our shop foreman, and he noticed it on Facebook that they wanted someone to pick up the completion of the truck that Jesse had just started," said Phillip Beck.

After the fire Street Rods by Auto Art in Phoenix met with the family about restoring the truck. It was a project Jesse had started before the fire.

"He had got it running, and that was as far as he got with it," said Beck.

The truck had been in Jesse's family for years, and he always wanted to see it restored. Donated work by street rods and parts from everyone else helped.

"All the basic parts were donated by shops here in Phoenix, so it is definitely an Arizona built truck," said Dan Tellez.

There are plenty of custom touches as well, like 19 tail lights on each side.

"We added the saying for the Granite Mountain team; the headliner has been embroidered with their insignia, the seat has been embroidered with all the 19 that have fallen," said Tellez.

Jesse's name joins the other 18 hot shots on the side of the truck. And there's a glass-protected hat that Jesse Wore. His family said Jesse had a cap in every vehicle he drove; the truck included.

"It's been a great experience for us, and we have had a lot of the families come in and look at the truck while it was in work," said Beck.

"We had the two brothers come in and work on the truck by themselves, so it was very emotional, it's been an honor to do the truck," he said.

The truck was driven back to Prescott this afternoon. It was delivered to the family and community as a memorial to the tragedy.
