One dead, one critically hurt in West Englewood shooting

One man was killed and another critically wounded in a shooting in the West Englewood neighborhood early Friday.

The two, 34 and 35, were standing outside in the 2000 block of West 63rd Street about 2:37 a.m. when a black vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire, police said. The vehicle then drove off in an unknown direction.

The 34-year-old, identified as Corey Hudson of the 6000 block of South Bell Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:02 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The other man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in critical condition, police said.
