Man dies after NW Indiana motorcycle crash

HAMMOND, Ind. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man died Tuesday night after the motorcycle he was driving crashed on Interstate 80/94 near Hammond, Ind.

The single-vehicle crash happened about 10 p.m. on eastbound I-80/94 near Kennedy Avenue, Indiana State Police said.

Edward S. Reifsteck III, 33, was taken to Munster Community Hospital in Hammond, where he was pronounced dead at 10:52 p.m., according to the Lake County, Ind., Coroner’s office.

Reifsteck, of the 2400 block of Warrick Street in Lake Station, Indiana, died of blunt force trauma as a result of the crash, the coroner’s office said.

No other injuries were reported in the crash, police said.

All eastbound lanes were briefly closed after the crash but have since been reopened, police said.
