Death of toddler who fell from NW Side window ruled accident

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - State child welfare officials are investigating after a 3-year-old boy died a day after falling from a second-story window on the Northwest Side, a death which an autopsy has ruled accidental.

Mohammed Alyamani fell about 1:25 p.m. Tuesday from the second-floor window of his home in the 3700 block of North Kostner Avenue, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The boy was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, the medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy on Friday showed Mohammed died from multiple injuries suffered in the fall, and ruled the death an accident, according to the medical examiner’s office

The state Department of Children and Family Services is investigating the boy’s mother over a supervision issue, spokeswoman Veronica Resa said Thursday.

Four other children in the home have been placed with a relative under a DCFS-monitored safety plan, Resa said.

Area North detectives were also conducting a death investigation.

It's been months since the last snowflake fell, but Chicago residents are still hitting potholes that make your teeth chatter. Which is why one Southside resident was puzzled when construction crews began repaving a road that virtually no one uses.
