HENRY COUNTY, Ga. -

Henry County police are searching for a man who robbed and pistol whipped a clerk at a Henry County convenience store.

Surveillance cameras from inside the Stockbridge Sunoco captured a store owner shielding his wife during the violence.

Amish Patel, the owner, says he was just minutes away from closing when the masked gunman came rushing in.

“He just pushed me away and he pushed me behind the counter and told me to open the register and I just opened the register,” said Patel.

Patel used his own body to shield his wife from the gunman’s aim.

The gunman got away with about $300 while Patel and his wife escaped.

Police say the gunman is a heavyset black man with a beard. Police say the man is dangerous.
