ATLANTA -  Police are trying to find the men involved in a shootout near a MARTA rail station on Saturday.

According to an Atlanta Police Department spokesperson, MARTA Police responded to the 100 block of Hamilton E. Holmes Drive after reports of shots being fired. The officer found several men running from a car that just crashed. Those men proceeded to get away in a red car.

The road under Interstate 20 was closed for several hours while police combed the crime scene. They recovered two loaded AK-47’s, one inside the vehicle and the other on the ground outside the car.

One victim may have been rushed in a personal vehicle to Grady Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was listed in critical, but stable condition after surgery.

The crashed vehicle is believed to have been part of a carjacking earlier in the day. The owner of the car said that nothing else was taken during the crime. Police were questioning the owner as to why it took so long to report the incident.

A bystander was also treated and released at the scene after she tripped trying to flee from the gun fire.

One man was detained at the scene, but it was later determined he had no role in the shooting.
