The de Blasio family was off to Capri after on Tuesday, after a day spent in Rome during the start of their 10-day family vacation to Italy.

The de Blasios visited the Vatican Tuesday morning. His son, Dante, was absent from the day's activities because he's "sleeping." The teen has been drawing lots of attention. A reporter following the de Blasios during their trip says he is a popular visitor.

"It's the hair; it's just him. He attracts a lot of attention," said Wall Street Journal Reporter Michael Edward Saul.

First Lady Chirlane McCray and daughter, Chiara, were joining their father in a visit to what the mayor says is "the most beautiful place on earth," according to Saul.

"The mayor is very pleased to be in Italy. They've had a world-wind 24 hours. He says that he has relatively young children and it's important to have some family time," said Saul.

On Sunday, the family took in famous view from the Rome mayor's balcony overlooking the Roman Forum.

De Blasio told reporters after meeting Mayor Ignazio Marino on Sunday that he "found a new brother," and recalled the strong ties between Rome and New York.

Earlier, the de Blasio family stopped by a cafe on Piazza Navona for a granita al caffe, an iced coffee drink popular on hot summer days.

The de Blasios' much-discussed family holiday was delayed by a day so the mayor could wrap up some city business. He is planning to visit Venice, Naples and the villages where his grandparents grew up during the stay.

I started at the Improv, no longer here, and he was a fan. I was drinking back then and I said 'I hate you.' We had a fistfight at a bar and we bonded. We love each other and yet we annoy each other," said Lewis. The pair was quite the comedic duo on the hit HBO show.
