DETROIT (WJBK) - A police officer has been involved in a shooting near the Detroit Police Department's 2nd Precinct, police tell Fox 2's Erika Erickson.

She is at the scene now near Grand River Avenue and Schaefer Highway.

She reports a man driving a gray Toyota stabbed another man multiple times outside the precinct. A plain-clothed officer is said to have told the suspect to stop, but when he did not the officer then fired his weapon at the suspect.

Witnesses tell Erickson the suspect was shot in the groin area. Both the suspect and the victim are said to be in serious condition. The officer is unharmed.

Detroit police says the suspected stabber and the victim appear to be in a relationship.
