Police investigating abduction attempt at Westland gas station

Posted: Updated:
WESTLAND, Mich. (WJBK) - Melissa Ledesma lives in the Wayne-Westland area and walks almost everywhere she goes, though she rarely walks anywhere alone. Melissa suffers from seizures, she says, and she is also hearing impaired. But on Monday, Melissa deviated from her daily routine.

She says she was taking a shortcut through the gas station at the corner of Merriman Road and Michigan Avenue to get to Kroger when a man approached her.

"This guy in a pearl, cream colored four door Cadillac pulls up to me and says he knows me. I said, no, I don't know you," she remembers. She says she tried her best she to ignore him and turn away, but that he was aggressive and had a dangerous agenda.

Ledesma was quick on her feet and was strong enough to get out of his grip.

"I didn't know what to do so I ran into the gas station and I called 911," she says. She says the stranger, who may have been in his 40s, drove away.

"His hair is about to his jaw line. It's a dark color with a little bit of gray in it," she says. He's also described as having a medium build, being about 6 feet tall and of Middle Eastern descent.

Ledesma was left with some cuts and bruises and now she says she is living in fear. Police showed up, took a report and investigators are taking this seriously.

"I just want to let the neighborhood know that there is a predator is our area, Wayne-Westland area. I don't want this to happen to some little girl, or some elderly lady," she says.
