NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

An ex-convict suspected of gunning down a Nassau County police officer and then fatally shooting a carjacking victim was found guilty on all counts in the murders on Monday.

Darrell Fuller, 34, of Queens, was accused of killing Police Officer Arthur Lopez who suspected he had been involved in a hit-and-run car accident.

Lopez was on patrol in Bellerose Terrace in October 2012, a community at the border of Queens and Nassau County when the officer and his partner spotted a damaged silver Honda that was "running on rims."

The officers followed the car, and it pulled over. There was "a brief exchange of words" between Lopez and Fuller before he left the vehicle and fired one round into Lopez's chest, police Chief Steven Skrynecki said, adding that the officer wasn't wearing a bulletproof vest.

Authorities said Fuller then fled that shooting and killed the second victim, Raymond Facey of Queens, while stealing his vehicle.

Fuller served four years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted murder in 2005. He now faces a sentence of life without parole.

A second man was arrested in connection with the shootings. Gerard Williams, 27, of Jamaica, Queens allegedly lent Fuller a silver 2000 Nissan Altima, said Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, and that two firearms were found inside: a TEC-9 semiautomatic firearm and Ruger 9mm semiautomatic pistol.

Because the series of events happened in neighborhoods along the Queens-Nassau border, the NYPD, the NCPD, the Queens D.A.'s office, and the Nassau D.A.'s office were all involved in the case.
