3 Children Shocked At Philadelphia Pool

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Emergency responders were called to 25th and South streets in Philadelphia where three children were shocked at a pool around 2:15 p.m. on Friday.

The three children, all under the age of 13, were taken CHOP where they are conscious and in stable condition.

Meanwhile, the pool is closed indefinitely while an investigation is underway.

Parents who showed up for a swim at the O'Connor city pool were worried.

"I'm grateful that nothing worse happened to them because we have been swimming since we've been back. We swim here almost every day,” said parent Gailen Dougherty.

Dougherty is concerned because she says her two boys, who are 11 and 9, swim at the pool regularly. She claims they complained to her back in June that something was wrong here.

"They kept saying their body hurt when they swam there and come in and try it," she said.

City officials say this is the first time they've heard of an incident like this happening at the pool.

License and Inspections and the fire department are investigating.

"The power has been cut off because we don't know exactly what has caused this. And pool will be closed until we find out what happened here,” said Susan Lawson with the Parks and Recreation Department.

City officials say work was being done on the motor in the pool at some point on Friday. No word on whether that played a part in what happened.
