Thousands gather in Atlanta to protest Missouri shooting

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA, Ga. -

Thousands of people packed the streets of downtown Atlanta Monday night to call for justice in the unrest in Ferguson, Missouri.

Police officers tell FOX 5 the crowd numbered around 5,000 people. Participants gathered around the CNN center at 6:00 p.m. and marched in a circle around Centennial Park.

The people who organized the protest say the goal was to share anger over the situation in Ferguson peacefully.

Thousands of protesters paid tribute to Michael Brown through posters, t-shirts, art and by wearing graduation caps and gowns.

“We represent the success he was to obtain, before he passed,” said one protestor to FOX 5's Jaclyn Schultz.

Dozens of officers monitored the crowd, but no incidents were seen among the thousands of people.
