Henry Co. police search for shoplifters

Posted: Updated:
HENRY COUNTY, Ga. -

Police are searching for a group of shoplifters after a man was caught stealing electronics from a Walmart in Henry County. Police say the Stockbridge store has been hit at least five times in just a couple of weeks.

FOX 5 has obtained surveillance video from Henry County Police of a man shoplifting a television from the Walmart. The suspect is seen walking right out of the store and into a getaway car with a large flat screen television.

Even though you can only see one man in the surveillance video, Henry County Police tell FOX 5 they're looking for more.

“We believe they're manipulating the fire exits so alarms won't alert the employees,” said Joey Smith with the Henry County Police Department.

According to Henry County Police, two men are caught in a separate video walking out and getting in a green truck.

A third shoplifting occurred, around the same time frame, at a Walmart in the Columbus area. Henry County Police don't know if this is related, but in all of the Walmart shoplifting surveillance videos no alarms or employees appear to be going after the crooks.

A Walmart spokesman refused to give FOX 5's Denise Dillon details about their policies or if employees are told not to chase after shoplifters. The spokesperson did say employees receive training on how to handle thefts.
